Vert Gives Back

It’s better to give than to receive, and at Vert we really believe it. In 2015, we were excited to donate to six different charities that Vertbags are connected to and participate in the CHOA Toy Drive! Take a look at the six organizations that we gave back to.

SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center is a comprehensive rehabilitation program that focuses on treatment for service men and women who have sustained a mild to moderate traumatic brain injury and PTSD from combat in post-9/11 conflicts. We’ve worked closely with Shepherd Center in the past and are honored to support everything they do!

South Fork Conservancy has a vision to restore and reconnect communities with their creek. They have raised awareness, built trails, and forged strong community partnerships – including Zonolite Park and the system of trails behind our office. We’ve all benefited from being able to take walks on the trails on our lunch breaks and get out of the office for a bit thanks to the South Fork Conservancy.

Wholesome Wave Georgia believes that all Georgians should have access to wholesome, locally grown food. By doubling each Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, aka Food Stamp) dollar spent at farmers markets, they increase access to good food while supporting sustainable farmers and contributing to the local food economy. If you look at some of the Vertbags’ Instagram accounts you’ll see that wholesome, locally-grown food is close to our hearts (and stomachs), and we love that Wholesome Wave Georgia works to make this possible for everyone!

Children’s Miracle Network/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is a not-for-profit organization that provides specialized care to kids from all walks of life. Donations help CHOA to provide the best possible care to patients and their families, including support for their greatest needs from equipment and programs to training the next generation of caregivers.

Ciudad de Angeles is a Christian children’s home on the island of Cozumel, Mexico. The home accepts young children who have been orphaned, abandoned or abused and gives them a permanent home on the Ciudad de Angeles campus. This organization is close to the heart of Lauren Harber, whose family has been visiting and supporting the home for years.

Furkids is a 501c3 nonprofit charitable organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats and a no-kill division for dogs. At these locations, animals experience the best care in a loving, safe environment until they are adopted into forever homes. We had the opportunity to serve at Furkids last year and were touched by how their staff loves and cares for the animals.

Additionally, Vert participated in the CHOA toy drive. We asked all the Vertbags to bring in toys, and Vert matched the donation, toy for toy. Our basket and our hearts were overflowing as we dropped the donation off at CHOA!

If you’re looking for a way to give back in 2016, we’d love for you to join us and support one of these fantastic organizations.
